Education & Program Assistant, Part Time, Year Round

The Hershey Story Museum is looking for a part-time program assistant to help create and deliver educational programs to school and summer camp groups and to assist with the planning and execution of public programs for visitors of all ages. This position works in a team environment to provide engaging visitor experiences that focus on the life of Milton Hershey, the town of Hershey, the company and of course chocolate!

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
– Help facilitate in-person, outreach and virtual learning programs for schools, camps, scouts, and other community groups.
– Assist in the development, creation, and implementation of curriculum-based and other programming for diverse audiences that provide interactive experiences.
– Input group information into ticketing system, create confirmations, and update spreadsheets.
– Communicate with schools, groups and staff to arrange visits.
– This position will be scheduled Monday – Friday, 25 – 28 hours a week with an occasional weekend or evening shift for special events.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
– Excellent public speaking skills and ability to lead and engage groups of children and adults.
– Ability to work well as part of a team, follow through with assigned tasks and think on your feet.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
– Knowledge of museum practices and museum education standards are a plus.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:
– Three years of experience in a museum or classroom or in conducting programs for children.
– Bachelor’s degree in education, history, public history, museum studies or related field is a plus.

Chocolate Lab Instructor,  Part Time, 15 – 25 hours a week

The Chocolate Lab is seeking chocolate lovers interested in teaching the secrets of the chocolate making industry to families and kids in fun and informative classes. Instructors also lead groups as they roll up their sleeves and try their hand at chocolate molding and decorating.

This position is responsible for the monitoring of specialized Lab equipment, such as tempering machines, and clean-up of work stations between classes.

No previous chocolate knowledge required, just enthusiasm for chocolate and working with the public.

Minimum skills and requirements:
Applicants must be 18 years or older
Applicants must be available on weekends and holidays
Ability to teach 45 minutes classes
Ability to interact with the public, good oral communication skills
1-2 years experience interacting with the public preferred
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Ability to stand for up to 3 hours

Visitor Experience Associate, Part Time, 15 – 25 hours a week

This position is key to the success of The Hershey Story and a seamless visitor experience.  This position assists guests in all areas of their visit to The Hershey Story.  They must be knowledgeable about all visitor opportunities at The Hershey Story, including the Museum Experience and Special Exhibit Gallery, Chocolate Lab, Chocolate Tasting, Café and Museum Shop.

Major Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for selling tickets to the Museum Experience, Chocolate Lab classes and Chocolate Tasting.  Enhance the visitor experience by informing guests of all opportunities at The Hershey Story.

Welcome guests, answer questions, and provide information in a friendly and inviting manner.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
Computer knowledge a plus
Special work hours (weekends, evenings, holidays, work a varied schedule)
Good communication skills
May be required to stand for 2-3 hours at a time.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 16 years old, experience working directly with the public preferred.

Museum Experience Associate, Part Time, 15 – 25 hours a week

Seeking engaging and enthusiastic Museum Experience Associates (MEA) to provide front line support to visitors and school groups to The Hershey Story Museum Experience. They must be knowledgeable about all visitor opportunities at The Hershey Story, including the Museum Experience and Special Exhibit Gallery, Chocolate Lab, Chocolate Tasting, Café and Museum Shop.

Major Duties/Responsibilities
Assist visitors with wayfinding and general information about The Hershey Story and answers questions related to museum exhibit content.

Assist public during special events and programs on an as needed basis.

Monitor exhibit interactives and video presentations, report operational issues, and provide security and light maintenance of exhibit areas.

Computer knowledge a plus
Special work hours (weekends, evenings, holidays, work a varied schedule)
Excellent communication skills
May be required to stand for 2-3 hours at a time.

Chocolate Tastings Associate, 12 – 20 hours a week

Do you love chocolate as much as we do? Join our  Tastings team! Chocolate Tastings Associates are responsible for serving flights of drinking chocolates for the general public and private groups.

Major Duties/Responsibilities
Prepare and serve drinking chocolates for our guests.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining specialized equipment, such as chocolate dispensers.
Clean-up of both work spaces and guest tables between tastings, and at the end of the day.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
Weekend and weekday shifts are available. 
Great customer service skills and the ability to multitask are a must.
Ability to stand for 4 to 5 hours.
Associates will be working by themselves most of the time, but being a good team worker is also a must.
