Special Badge Workshops

Scouts BSA ”Indian Lore” Merit Badge Workshop 
Saturday, October 1, 2022

In this workshop  Scouts explore the museum’s American Indian artifact collection to earn the Indian Lore merit badge. The intensive program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of collections storage. Scouts will also create replicas of three American Indian objects, learn to play American Indian games, and take an in-depth look at Susquehannock artifacts. Upon successful completion of the program, merit badge counselors will sign merit badge forms.
$18 for Scouts; $14 per Leader*.  Registration has closed for this event.

Only Scouts and leaders will be permitted to participate in workshop activities.  Workshop registration includes Museum Experience admission for the day.

*The Leader may be the Troop Leader, parent or accompanying adult.  At least one adult is required to register and accompany each troop, or individual Scout.  Extra adults and children may purchase Museum Experience tickets at the admissions desk on the day of the workshop.

Participation in this program does not qualify Scouts for a Hershey Story patch. To earn that patch, Scouts must complete the “Scouting for History” guide and also participate in a public Chocolate Lab class or Chocolate Tasting.

Junior Girl Scout “Playing the Past” Badge Workshop

Enjoy a morning of hands-on activities at The Hershey Story!  Girls will experience the many stories of Hershey through the eyes of girls and women who lived long ago.  In addition to exploring the exhibits, scouts will play old-fashioned games and create two crafts to take home.
Cost is $12 per Junior Scout and $12 per Leader/adult chaperone.*
Leaders/adult chaperones may be asked to assist with activities and all chaperones may not be able to participate in every activity.

*Extra adults and children  may purchase Museum Experience tickets at the admissions desk on the day of the workshop. Only Scouts and leaders/adult chaperones will be permitted to participate in workshop activities.  Workshop registration includes Museum Experience admission for the day. The workshop does not include the badge.

Cadette Girl Scout “Entrepreneur” Badge Workshop 
Saturday, March 26, 2022
9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. session

Registration closes March 20, 2022

Girl Scouts will work in teams to brainstorm ideas and create a chocolate confectionery product for a specific demographic, develop a business plan for their unique product, and then present their product and plan to the group.
Cost is $15 per Cadette Scout and $12 per Leader/adult chaperone.*

Leaders/adult chaperones will be expected to assist with activities. Adult participation is limited to 1 leader/adult chaperone per every 5 girls or 1 per troop if less than 5 girls.

 *Extra adults and children  may purchase Museum Experience tickets at the admissions desk on the day of the workshop. Only Scouts and required leaders/adult chaperones will be permitted to participate in workshop activities.  Workshop registration includes Museum Experience admission for the day. The workshop does not include the badge.

Brownie Girl Scout “Senses” Badge Workshop
Saturday, to be

Girls can exercise all of their senses during this interactive workshop. Activities include a hunt through the museum, a make-and-take touch chart and a visit to the Chocolate Lab for a sensory activity*.
$15 for Brownie Scouts and $12 for Leaders**.   

Girl Scouts are always welcome to visit the museum and participate in our “Scouting for History” patch program. Participation in this workshop does not qualify scouts for a Hershey Story patch. To earn that patch, scouts must complete the “Scouting for History” guide and also participate in a public Chocolate Lab class or Chocolate Tasting.

*The Chocolate Lab is not allergen free. However, we make every effort to exclude the use of tree and ground nuts. Scouts with food allergies may not be able to participate in all parts of the Chocolate Lab portion of the program. See contact information below for specific questions.

**Extra adults and children are welcome, but they can not participate in the Chocolate Lab portion due to limited seating. Extra adults and children may purchase regular priced Museum Experience admission tickets at the admissions desk on the day of the workshop.  Only Scouts and leaders will be permitted to participate in workshop activities. Scouting for History

Explore the Museum Experience with one of our scavenger hunts created especially for Scouts. The hunts, which satisfy some scouting requirements, stress Milton Hershey’s example as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. “Scouting for History” is available to Scout groups or individuals at any time; Museum Experience admission must be purchased to complete a guide*. Please ask for your free “Scouting for History” guide at the admissions desk, or print a copy below:

Earn a Hershey Story Scout Patch!

Hershey Story Patch

Scout groups or individual scouts of any age who complete the following will be awarded with a Hershey Story patch:

  • Complete “Scouting for History” in the Museum Experience   AND
  • Attend a public Chocolate Lab class or  take part in a  Chocolate Tasting.
