Our unique programs are designed to immerse Scouts in a variety of topics, while completing their badge requirements.

Special Badge Workshops

Indian Lore Merit Badge Workshop for Boy Scouts
Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
In this workshop Boy Scouts explore the museum’s American Indian artifact collection and earn their Indian Lore merit badge. The intensive program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of collections storage. Scouts will also create replicas of three American Indian objects, learn to play American Indian games, and take an in-depth look at Susquehannock artifacts. Upon successful completion of the program, merit badge counselors will sign merit badge forms. Cost is $15 for Scouts and Leaders.* Registration will open August 1.

*Extra adults and children may purchase regular priced tickets here, or at the admissions desk on the day of the workshop.

Participation in this program does not qualify scouts for a Hershey Story patch. To earn that patch, scouts must complete the “Scouting for History” guide and also participate in a public Chocolate Lab class or Chocolate Tasting.

Brownie Scout “Senses” Badge Workshop
Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Girls can exercise all of their senses during this interactive workshop. Activities include a hunt through the museum, a make-and-take touch chart and a trip to the Chocolate Lab*.
$15 for Brownie Scouts; $12 per Leader**. Registration will open September 1, 2017.

*The Chocolate Lab is not allergen free. However, we make every effort to exclude the use of tree and ground nuts. Scouts with food allergies may not be able to participate in all parts of the Chocolate Lab portion of the program. See contact information below for specific questions.

Junior Girl Scout “Playing the Past” Badge Workshop
Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9:30  a.m. – 12:15 p.m.  

Enjoy a morning of hands-on activities at The Hershey Story!  Girls will experience the many stories of Hershey through the eyes of girls and women who lived long ago.  In addition to exploring the exhibits, scouts will play old-fashioned games and create two crafts to take home.
$12 for Scouts and Leaders; badge included*. Registration will open September 1, 2017.

Scouting for History

Explore the Museum Experience with a scavenger hunt created especially for Scouts. The hunt, which satisfies some Scout requirements, also stresses Milton Hershey’s example as an entrepreneur and philanthropist.

“Scouting for History” is available to Scout groups or individuals at any time; Museum Experience admission must be purchased to complete the guide. Please ask for your free “Scouting for History” guide at the admissions desk, or print a copy below.

  • Cub Scout – Collecting Belt Loop, Bear Scout Achievement 8
  • Brownie Scout – Celebrating Community and Computer Expert Badges

Hershey Story Patch

Scout groups or individual scouts of any age who complete the following will be awarded with a Hershey Story patch:

Complete “Scouting for History” in the Museum Experience

and

attend a Chocolate Lab class or a special holiday program, such as Little Elves Workshop, or take part in a Chocolate Tasting.
