Our unique programs are designed to immerse Scouts in a variety of topics, while completing their badge requirements.

Special Badge Workshops

Cadette Girl Scout “Entrepreneur” Badge Workshop – SOLD OUT
Saturday, September 28 , 2019 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Girl Scouts will work in teams to brainstorm ideas and create a chocolate confectionery product for a specific demographic, develop a business plan for their unique product, and then present their product and plan to the group.
$15 for per Cadette Scout and $12 per Leader*; badge included.   Leaders will be expected to assist with activities and participation is limited to 1 chaperone per every 5 girls.

*Extra adults and children  may purchase Museum Experience tickets here, or at the admissions desk on the day of the workshop. Only Scouts and leaders will be permitted to participate in workshop activities.  Workshop registration includes Museum Experience admission for the day.

Participation in this program does not qualify scouts for a Hershey Story patch. To earn that patch, scouts must complete the “Scouting for History” guide and also participate in a public Chocolate Lab class or Chocolate Tasting.

Scouts BSA “Indian Lore” Merit Badge Workshop 
Saturday, November 2 , 2019 from 9:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
In this workshop  Scouts explore the museum’s American Indian artifact collection to earn the Indian Lore merit badge. The intensive program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of collections storage. Scouts will also create replicas of three American Indian objects, learn to play American Indian games, and take an in-depth look at Susquehannock artifacts. Upon successful completion of the program, merit badge counselors will sign merit badge forms.
$15 for Scouts; $12 per Leader*.  Register and purchase tickets here.

Only Scouts and leaders will be permitted to participate in workshop activities.  Workshop registration includes Museum Experience admission for the day.

Brownie Girl Scout “Senses” Badge Workshop
Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Girls can exercise all of their senses during this interactive workshop. Activities include a hunt through the museum, a make-and-take touch chart and a trip to the Chocolate Lab*.
$15 for Brownie Scouts and $12 for Leaders, badge included**. Registration will open November 2019.  Girl Scouts are always welcome to visit the museum and participate in our “Scouting for History” patch program.

*The Chocolate Lab is not allergen free. However, we make every effort to exclude the use of tree and ground nuts. Scouts with food allergies may not be able to participate in all parts of the Chocolate Lab portion of the program. See contact information below for specific questions.

**Extra adults and children are welcome, but they can not participate in the Chocolate Lab portion due to limited seating. Junior Girl Scout “Playing the Past” Badge Workshop 
Saturday, April 4 , 2020 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Enjoy a morning of hands-on activities at The Hershey Story!  Girls will experience the many stories of Hershey through the eyes of girls and women who lived long ago.  In addition to exploring the exhibits, scouts will play old-fashioned games and create two crafts to take home.
$12 for Junior Scouts and $12 for Leaders*; badge included.   Registration for this event, will open January 2020.  Girl Scouts are always welcome to visit the museum and participate in our “Scouting for History” patch program.

Scouting for History

Explore the Museum Experience with one of our scavenger hunts created especially for Scouts. The hunts, which satisfy some scouting requirements, stress Milton Hershey’s example as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. “Scouting for History” is available to Scout groups or individuals at any time; Museum Experience admission must be purchased to complete a guide*. Please ask for your free “Scouting for History” guide at the admissions desk, or print a copy below.

Earn a Hershey Story Scout Patch!

Hershey Story Patch

Scout groups or individual scouts of any age who complete the following will be awarded with a Hershey Story patch:

  • Complete “Scouting for History” in the Museum Experience   AND
  • Attend a public Chocolate Lab class, or a special holiday program, such as Little Elves Workshop, or take part in a   Chocolate Tasting.

Patches will be awarded (at no additional cost) at The Hershey Story admissions desk upon completion of the above activities. For reservations and group rates for five or more scouts, complete this form  or call 717.520.5596.

*Guests of The Hotel Hershey & Hershey Lodge receive complimentary general admission tickets to The Hershey Story and Hershey Gardens upon check-in. Adding a Chocolate Lab costs $9.50 per scout and $13.50 for each accompanying adult.
