The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is back in the spotlight, and the counties in and around the southeastern part of state are now in clear view of people from all over the U.S. and the world. Hershey and the areas around it are among the best kept secrets in the region. Unemployment rates are lower than the national average at 4.6 percent vs. 6.3 percent. Job growth is nearly double the national average at 2.34 percent vs. 1.18 percent for the rest of the country. And the prospects for future job growth in the region is fueling migration and immigration to Dauphin, Lancaster, Cumberland, Lebanon and Montgomery Counties. But with population growth, there is change. The Commonwealth has experienced change in all industries, from the public sector to the private sector, and in communities large and small throughout the state. Although Pennsylvania is experiencing change everywhere, nowhere is this demographic change more visible than in the southeast. Our conversation will explore multicultural diversity in our area and what we should consider as we witness, engage and embrace this change in our communities. Please join us for this thoughtful look at change in Hershey and our surrounding communities.
