Scouts BSA “Entrepreneurship” Merit Badge Workshop
October 26 @ 9:30 am - 2:15 pm
Milton S. Hershey was a successful entrepreneur whose keen business sense and philanthropic approach were instrumental in establishing his chocolate company over a century ago. In this workshop Scouts will explore the skills and processes essential to developing a business as they create a business plan for a chocolate confectionary product and learn about market trends, financial concerns, as well as marketing and promotional methods. Each Scout will make a chocolate confection to take home as well as explore the museum’s exhibits during the workshop.
Registered Scouts must complete, and submit in writing to the merit badge counselor at [email protected], the following two prerequisites at least one week prior to the workshop:
- Define entrepreneurship in their own words and explain how entrepreneurs impact the U.S. economy.
- Explain why having good skills in communication, planning, organization, problem solving, decision making, basic math, adaptability, technical & social skills, teamwork, and leadership is important for an entrepreneur.
Upon successful completion of the prerequisites and the onsite program, the merit badge counselor will sign merit badge forms. Workshop participants are responsible for providing their own lunches during a 30-minute lunch break.
